I am thinking about going with the GR2 shocks. If you have them how do they ride, I am not looking for a harsh ride like from the preformance style shock.-TK
Is this the "special" shock that Vette Brakes makes for the C3 w/ fiberglass monoleaf spring (can't locate my catalog right now)? If so, this shock WORKED (past tense) pretty good initially, but has seemed to take a crap. I just had them off the rear while replacing strut rod bushings...took almost 45 seconds to extend from being compressed! I don't think that's too responsive! I'm pretty sure Vette Brakes had their own version of the GR2...maybe the original is better
I often wondered about proper shocks for the monospring I have. With regular shocks is got an okay compression but the rebound is really fast....twice as fast. Makes for a bumpy ride. You have to ride in one with that spring to realize it. A friend of a friend of a friend....you get the picture.. gave me the following GM part number that supposedly matches the VB monospring
4993538
This is a GM number, not AC Delco. A close friends 76 with the monospring (360) has these shocks and the ride quality is incredible. I don't know where the number came from. I am assuming it has been passed down through the generations from the great Vette gods. The shocks really do work. No lies.
I installed them on my car (after VB's recommendation) and the ride got significantly better (I have the fiber springs both front and rear).
Used to have the Carrera shocks, but didn't feel right on any of the 3 settings.
They said the GR2's are valved for those springs, I was suprised as how the ride changed.
They aren't expensive either. Drive it like you stole it
