Default p brake

It took about 30 minutes to do, with out taking hubs off. You will need the parking brake tool sold by most corvette dealers, I tried with out one and it did not work well at all. The tool is needed for the top spring, and also helps in pushing on the rould pin clips. This is what I did:

1. I laid the shoes and springs out and assembled them off the vehichle to get familiar with them. 2. I connected the bottom of the shoes to the ajuster and the attached thebottom spring. 3. I took all the old stuff out except the lever that connects to the parking brake cable. Disconect the park brake cable. 4. I put the shoes connected to the ajusting wheel and bottom spring on the car. Now I only have the two pins, springs, and round retainer that holds the shoes in place and the final top spring to secure. 5. The round springs and pins are the hardest.I tried two ways. First I used a round tube (suggested by someone else) that fit through the park brake ajusting hole, this hole also lines up with the spring and pin. The tube was large enough to go over the pin. You can position the spring, pin and round retainer and push the retainer in over pin and twist. You will need to use a finger to hold the pin in from the back side. The second method, is to pull the shoe out position the pin, spring and retainer and use the little tool to push the retainer in over the pin and turn it. IT all takes alittle manuvering but is easier than it looks. 6. Finally use the tool to put on the last top spring.

I left out the cussing but you can come up with your own stuff there. Good luck

Default Fishing line

One other member uses fishing line.

I like to compress the retainer springs (ones with pins/cups)
and then tie them compressed with some heavy fishing line.
Once the compressed spring, pin, and cup are in place, cut
the fishing line ... or tie it so you can pull one end to untie it.
I just go in with some really small wire clippers.

This is the parking brake tool you will need for the spring. It is an Eckler's part A 2514 and priced at $6.99. If you have an old screwdriver and a cutoff wheel, you can make one in about 2 minutes. I like the ideas on replacing the pin springs.
