Default Belts screeching

While I am waiting for some parts for my W/S/W problems I want to start on why my fan belts screech at RPM's > 2500 or speeds above 80 MPH.. Very annoying!!!
I have looked at the belt alignment and the power steering looks a little off.. Hmmmmmm
Just a note here I had the car converted from Manual to Power steering..
Soooooo..
Anyway would like some input on someone elses experience and some suggestions on how to proceed and what to look for .. New Belts !!
Thanks Guys

Mine does it too. Generally it's due to cheap belts and they only do it when it's cold.

Cheap belts, glazed belts, loose belts...

I had all 3 till last week. Replaced them with new Goodyear ones, and all was well (till they stretched). Just tightened them again today. No squeaky squeaky!

You may try a can of belt dressing, along with retightening, but new belts ain't that spendy.

Oh, my power steering pump was missing one of the bolts on the bottom bracket too...I'm sure that wasn't helping anything either.

Good luck!!

Dan

I'd check your clutch fan if you have one...had same moderate speed squeal...tried adjusting, dressing to no avail...then they shredded one day and I seen the pieces in my rear view mirror and gen light came on while going 70 !! It was a "wobble" in fan clutch causing this, but not until above 60 mph.....lost alternator belt/power steering belt...

Default All Fixed

Just finished replacing both belts and took it out for a chilly rest drive..
Hey !!! No more screeching..!!!
Somehow it acts like it has more power .. Then agin I think it is just fun to STOMP on it !!
I cleaned all the pulleys as suggested..
The nice feller at the parts store said they get glazed and slip is why they start squealing..
Thanks agin!!!
