Default PS leak

Went underneath to check out a leak on the 72 LT-1, looks like the PS control valve is leaking, modt of the liquid was around the top where it connects to the Pittman arm... the control valve was replaced 5-6 years ago, but the car hasn't been driven alot since then. My hunch is that it is the seal on top where the Pittman arm connects... all of the lines were clean and all of the connections were tight.

How hard is it to remove the Pittman arm to repair the seal?

The ball-stud that connects to the pitman arm rides in a socket in grease, not fluid. If you have PS fluid leaking, then there are two possibilities- there is an internal seal that can be bad, or the gasket between the two adapter halves can be leaking. In either case, the valve has to be rebuilt.

Try this first.... give the control a good over-dose of grease at the grease fitting. Sometimes this re-seats the interal seal and it stops leaking for a while.

I hear pretty good thing's about the lucas treatmant , but it sound's like a control valve replacement is in order. Just did mine a couple of years ago and it's easy and not much $$..
