Ya know on my '94 Firebird I didn't realize it had high beams until I had a girlfriend drive it and turn them on. I was like "WTF! HOW'D YOU DO THAT?!?!?!?" When I got in to drive it again I pulled the blinker switch towards me and was like "Son of a..." Nothing in the manual, on the switch, or on the dash said how to turn the brights on. I was used to them being on the floor, actually, and hadn't realized that on newer cars it was like that.

My 68 has a floor mounted dimmer switch (High/Low beam Switch) on the floor, I hit every now and then when I shift or strech out.

That's kind of my point....they switched from the floor mounted switch to the stalk mounted switch several years before my 80 was built.

And, while it's true that there isn't much need for high beams in LA, I actually live on the fringe of the Mojave Desert and on occasion get the opportunity to go to high beams, using my stalk mounted switch.
