Default Tall BB valve covers

Are there any clearance issues when running tall BB valve covers on a 69? I need to use a stud girdle and my engine builder asked me if they're going to hit anything. I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

If you have power brakes I think it will hit the vacuum booster. You will also find when sliding the cover over the stud girdle that the corner of the valve cover hits the firewall on the drivers side. While it certainly fits past the firewall it is a pain. I relieved this corner just to make putting the valve cover on easier.
Without power brakes they will fit. I went hydroboost and that solves the problem.

Tall covers will hit the power brake booster. I simply used a large (2 inch) socket and hammer to hammer form an indent where the cover hit. When you put all the vacuum lines back, you can never see it. I have been meaning to take a pic of this area, and I will try to do that tonight.

If it is that tight how do you remove the cover for valve adjustment??

I took some pics, and I guess I exagerated a little. You can see it when you look closely, but it's not something that sticks out in my opinion. These pics were also taken from a wierd angle because my car is currently way up in the air while I do the rack conversion. Getting the covers on and off requires that you pull one end off first, but it's not impossible.

In addition, if you're lucky enough to have a/c....you will need to relocate the compressor.

Otherwise the guys have covered the main problems....booster and alternator.

Good luck,
Joe
