UKPAUL, you are right about chrome plating helping the wear on sprockets. Chrome plate is extremly hard and wears really well, it's the same as getting the teeth on the sprocket surface hardened.

Well considering steel sprockets usually cost about 1/2 as much and sometimes 1/3 as much as their aluminum alloy counterparts, it's a pretty easy choice. The front sprockets are always already case hardened so least I don't have to worry about that wearing out, this time. However, whenever you change your sprocket, you need to change your chain and vice versa so I think from now on instead of spending $100 on that WX ring chain, I'm just going to go with the $25 solid one and get the aluminum sprockets and still spend less than steel + wx ring chain.

Back on topic, bumper reinforcements can be replaced with aluminum reinforcements to save a ton of weight.

take your car to a scale first easy to loose weight look with vb&p for front leaf spring and new a arms and it will improve suspenion as well that gw was taken in 81 with a full tank of gas and alll kinds of stuff on and in the car do your exhuast and a few emisions stuff and your can get to 3000 easy! also look at taken weight for either front or back try to get distribution as close to 50/50 as you can for a hell of a ride if you are going for 1/4 mile lotta ways
