Default Help with suspension

Hello everyone, i am a fairly new corvette owner (79 L-82), I have noticed that this almost 30 year old car makes noise.....it probably has the same suspension since day one. I contacted a local shop in san antonio, tx...and wow...was I blown away at the price to work on this car...Anyways, any suggestions on how I can replace the steering and suspension parts on this vette to get it riding smooth again..any suggestions would greatly be appreciated....

u will prolly need to lift the car first....

check play in wheel bearings
bushings/ball joints
tighten bolts/replace

could also replace the front coils and shocks

New shocks make a world of difference. $60 pair of shocks and you'll notice a big improvement.

Ditto with onaqwst & Kalway
You can get a kit with all the parts from a few places that post on this site.
I used VB&P performance package.
All you need is good tools, time, $$$ and you can do it yourself.
A service manual would help for removal of parts and what to service.

Before you dive head long into this, decided what you can and can't do, and if you have friends/local corvette clubs that can help you in the process.

I am in the process of doing exactly what you described. I thought I could conquer the world, I was wrong.

The actual work is simple and straight forward - understanding who can help you with what makes all the difference.

You've come to the right place. Get a complete kit and save some $. I just finished my first front suspension rebuild and these guys got me thru it. I got a Chiltons, searched these archives and asked stupid questions. It's really not that difficult. These are a great bunch of guys, ask questions, they'll help you. Go for it!

I've got a video that will show you how to remove the front & rear suspension and reinstall it. It's a pretty helpful tool.
