Attention body-off restorers - plans and pics of my bodycraddle available..
Hi folks!
Yesterday I took some pictures of my new body craddle.
I know that most of you prefer building that thing made of wood, but at least my drawings can be helpful concerning the measurements.
The craddle drawing is a dwg file, Iīll add this during the weekend to the server....
The craddle works fine, although it supports only four main body mounts.
I decided to do it this way because it should be a "small package" when disassembled due to storage problems.
I support the front end with stands, after Iīve moved the vette into position.
Big advantage of this trolley is that itīs fully adjustable (height) and that you have superb access to the underside of the body. Further more you can disassemble it and it will fit nearly every body because it has slots which make the adjustment easy.
Here are some pics
During movement of the body the front end isnīt supported. Not really a problem....
The carbody doesnīt only lie on the craddle, itīs bolted on

Very nice. One word of warning here. If the front end is not supported, the weight of the front end, or just from moving it without the front end supported can cause the fiberglass to pull away from the rivets where the top section of the nose meets the top of the doors and the bottom of the windshield area.
You can check this by opening the door and looking through towards the hood. The gap will be a little bigger at the very top of the door in that area as well.
This can lead to leaks inside the passenger compartment.

Whenever I moved the craddle I had some helping hands that supported the nose. Girlfriend
But I think Iīll build an extension to the craddle which supports the front too.
Only for the reason that the paintguy doesnīt care that much about it as I do.
I know that itīs not recommended to leave the nose unsupported.
But right know thereīs nearly no additional weight in the front.
Even headlights are removed....
But thanks for your comment

OK, I give up now...
For some reason I was unable to upload the dwg file to the server.
Guess they donīt like the type of file (.dwg)
If you have ACAD, ACAD viewer or any other software you can open it.
Further more I have to tell you that the measurements are written down in metric mm.
But converting this shouldnīt be a problem.. 25,4 mm equals 1 inch.
If anyone is interested contact me per email, Iīll send it...
Because Iīll be on vacation the next 3 and a half weeks you should use the address below....
