My 79 came with an older Nordskog digital gauge cluster, speedo and tach, all very neat looking. The problem is that some of the gauge readings are way off. The oil temperature gauge starts out at somewhere around 40 below zero when I start the car (I am in New Jersey, not Siberia), the temp gauge reads around 250 degrees at cruise speeds but the car is not overheating (only I am when I look at the readings ). Gas and oil pressure gauges seem to be right on the money, as well as the speedometer. The tach seems to be OK but sometimes I wonder how accurate it is. Also the mechanical trip odometer and total odometer are hung up. I suppose that Nordskog gets a fair amount of nuisance calls for technical assistance, because they do make it difficult to get support, and I am not the original buyer of the system. So I guess the main issues are the temp gauges (oil and water) and the mechanical odometers. Anybody have experience with these set ups?
I do not have any experience with this, but, it sounds like its the sending units...I am sure someone else with those gauges will chime in. By the way, I was planning on switching over to these gauges, how well can you see them while driving in the day?

Your question is right on the money. These gauges are near impossible to see in bright sunlight . There are times when I have to shade them with my hand just to see them. They just came out in blue recently, but I don't think it will make a difference in visibility during sunlight. If you are still interested I saved a link somewhere - I saw them online for about $100.00 less than what Nordskog sells them to you for.
