Lubricating Your Strg Column Ignition Lock Cylinder
I gave out some bad information the other day. I had indicated to use WD-40 to "unstick" a steering column ignition lock cylinder. Now I have been corrected. DO NOT use WD-40.
If your steering column ignition lock cylinder needs lubrication, the engineers at Delphi Saginaw say to use a small amount of MOBIL 1. Use a syringe or coat your key to get the oil into the moving parts.
WD-40 will dry out the metal parts and craze the plastic parts in the lock cylinder.
Sorry, I guess one piece of bad info in a year isn't too bad.

Jim, that is good information. For those that may be interested, Jim helped me, with diagrams and troubleshooting guides, fix my 72 key buzzer. I had a sticking lock cyliner. I used WD-40 to flush out the ignition lock cylinder (it was out of the car) and then used a light weight oil to lube the cylinder.
