Default High-temp epoxy?

I'm doing some beautiful port and polish work on some cheap ebay aluminum heads. I'm considering adding some material to areas that do not seem to be engineered the best. I've seen some builders use epoxy to fill in low spots. I'm wanting to do the same thing. Anyone know what epoxy to use? I don't like to name drop on here, but I assume that TT will know more than anyone......

Mike, three or four of the people I know that do this type of work use a product called splash zone epoxy. They have different numbers for different applications but just google it and you will find it.

Splash Zone applications appear to be primairly for marine use. When I was into karting, JB Weld was used on the intake side of the engine to smooth out air flow. It was commonly used and I never heard of it coming lose and causing engine failure. I even used it to repair a case where a rod broke through. It held and the engine ran fine afterwards. You might consider it for your need. http://jbweld.net/index.php

I've not used JB Weld on a head, but I have used it on a thermostat housing on our Jaguar E-Type...It's held WONDERFULLY. We sanded it, reshaped it, and repainted it to cover huge pits and holes in the housing. The cost for us to replace the part was $78; a box of JB Industro Weld was $10.

If you are in a high heat situation, I'll recommend that you use the Industro Weld, since it's rated to 600 F. Oh, and if you DO use this stuff, WEAR GLOVES. If this stuff gets on your skin, it's there until the skin flakes off underneath it. It's hard as steel when it dries, great stuff.

The Manley stuff may work well; I've never tried it, having never seen it in local stores. If I have to order chemicals over the Internet, forget it. Most companies have a hard time shipping chemicals to California, and if they DO ship them, they have to ship them via ground shipping. When I need epoxy, I kinda need it NOW

Manley's stuff is a good product. Only thing I've ever seen that can hold up in an exhaust port.
