I recently bought a new intake, and the intake is meant to use a 2.09" by 1.28" gasket. The problem is two of the intake ports have a width of 1.30". In the past I ported out the head ports to fit this gasket. I really don't want to touch the heads anymore since they are bolted up to the engine. If I bolt up the intake right now with those two ports bigger than the head ports, do you guys feel this will hurt performance a lot? The engine is a 350 ci, 9.5 compression, dart iron eagle heads 200cc, and cam is duration at .050" 227 int/233 exh.
The intake is the Crosswind RPM Air Gap. I knew I was going to get that response about the intake and head ports. I have been looking for an intake locally so I can measure the ports right there. I'll just have to ebay the one I have. Thanks.
Yeah its from Professional Products. I know most intakes need port matching. I figured the intake ports would be smaller than the recommended gasket. Other than the ports being bigger than the gasket, its a pretty nice casting.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I would just put it on it will be fine. I just spent 250 bucks to have my intake aligned properly to the heads and it is still not right. I would assume most motor on this forum have mismatched ports from intake to heads to some degree or another. Only costs you a couple of HP
Well thats good to hear that you guys don't think it will hurt much. I was reading in another post about using an epoxy to fill in the port a little. What do you guys think about that?
