Default Grounding wire question - Help!

Ok,

Does the radio plate grounding strap share a bolt with another grounding wire on the frame which should run back to the outboard driver side brake/turn signal light assembly?

The manual looks like there's a grounding wire there, but it's missing on mine, if I'm reading the manual correctly. I'm thinking that this may be why I don't have brake lights

I believe it does. There should be a ground for the rear lights coming from the harness on the rear right driverside. Grounds to the frame.

Just put in a new tank on my 72 and I cleaned up every thing in the rear. There is a grould wire from the end (left side) of the tail light harness that shares the ground on the frame with the radio.

Thanks! I was able to get it set up properly. The PO had reloacted the grounding wire for some reason so I reinstalled the radio plate and relocated the ground wire.

Didn't fix the brake lights, but the radio sounds a heck of alot better.

What are the brake lights doing? The switch is behind the brake pedal. Is it making contact??

Hi, Jim.

I've been able to determine that the turn signal switch must be bad. I jumpered 12 volts to the green and yellow lines running back to the lights and they both came on just like they should. The brake light switch tests fine, too so I think I'm on the right track.

I ordered a 68 Camero switch, which I think will work - Boyne type (BPM label) with 8 pin connector so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. At least the picture was identical to the 68 vette.

68 pontiac bonneville switches are the same as Vette. Some of them have the cornering lamp switch as well but you can ignore the extra wiring.
