Default Trial T5 Install After Modifications

I have an adjustable clutch pivot fork I may need to install on my bellhousing but I wanted to test fit the T5 after trimming the bearing retainer. The distance from the face of the flywheel adapter is 4 and 1/16th inches so I trimmed the retainer to 3 and 5/8th inches to allow the clutch to move off the flywheel. The Transmission slid all the way in without any binding or problem. I adjusted the clutch rod on the pedal and tried the clutch. I could see the clutch pressure plate come off the clutch plate but I still could not get the rear yoke to turn by hand. Just a fraction of an inch would completely release the clutch plate. I will pull the tranny back out, drop the bellhousing and install the adjustable pivot ball about a 1/4 inch closer to the pressure plate. This should give me the travel necessary to completely releave the pressure on the clutch plate. It has been a busy and positive weekend!

Good news Bernie. Moving the fork forward with the adjustable ball should do it.

I just went through this whole ordeal last weekend. I was doing the hydraulic clutch setup encouraged by forum members. Utilizing a bell housing with a bracket (out of a Camaro) that was collecting dust at a friends shop; I installed the Adjustable Clutch Fork Pivot Ball on the bell housing along with fork and TO bearing on the engine. I made sure every thing was clear, smooth, and the fork was as close as it could be to the slave cylinder (as per carguy4sure’s suggestion) and adjusted accordingly. I then tacked the nut on the Adjustable Clutch Fork Pivot Ball and installed all back in place. Every thing works great now, No binding or stiff clutch issues. Good luck on your install.

The rest should be easy. I have gotten pretty good at removing and installing the transmission and bellhousing. The important thing is to do it as many times as it takes to get it operating perfectly.

Bernie I hope you get it right. I am leaving for Mexico this Friday and hope to hear good things when I get back.

Norval. The only other thing I can do is install the adjustable fork pivot. It has to work. Of course, I will recheck all my measurements while I install the pivot ball to make sure I have all the clearances I need. Am looking forward to finishing this project so I can concentrate on a 400 cube engine. I think I might have found one. I would like to get one on a stand and start the rebuild process this year. Have a great trip; give Carol a corrot for me and pet Strider!
