Default '75 rear end loose when accel/decelerate

my rear end seems to pull very hard to the right when decelerating and same thing to the left when accelerating. almost undrivable over 60 mph. everything looks fine (not broken) under the entire car. can anybody give me an idea of what it could be?

Check the shims in the trailing arms. Might be loose or missing. That would cause problems like yours.

I worked on a car for a guy that did the same thing, I found the front T-arm bushings gone, there was only the bolt and outer shells left, no rubber at all.I thought it was going to turn in a circle the first time I drove it to see what he was talking about.
I replaced the bushings and it took care of the problem.

I would look at the trailing arm bushings first.

I had the same problem. When I first got mine fired up after a frame off, I took it to the Tire Kingdom to get and alignment. I later found they had not put enough shimes in the right rear, allowing the trailing arm to slide and changing the toe from in to out. This is when I learned to do my own alignments, with the help to the forum.

shims look good but the bushings are horrible do you think the bushings could do that and should i just replace all the bushings back there. how difficult is that

If the bushings are gone, you will get that "rear steer" feeling. They need to be replaced.

There are disagreements over poly vs. rubber, but I think most go for the poly. You can do the poly bushings in your garage in an evening if everything goes right. (they usually don't), and then take it to a competent alignment shop the next day. (or, you can do it yourself if you feel up to it)

The rear bushings are not that horribly hard to replace, as long as you don't have a bunch of rusted parts back there. If your trailing arms have never been replaced, and you have rust issues, it can turn into a major PITA to get the trailing arm bolts and shock mounts out. There are lots of articles in the archives dealing with this.

If you are going to do this, it might be a good time to just go ahead and do the rest of your trailing arm rebuild "while you are at it".

How many times will this problem be posted? There have been two others like it in the last week or so.

SEARCH, it is your friend.

The search option is nice and will give some info. But sometimes when even the same question is asked there maybe even more and better information given on the same subject. Along with many new people and some old forum members that missed the older posts. So to me it is all Good .

Maybe I was just having a bad day. I've been trying to send some packages with FedEx and it has been such a hassle, I canceled the whole thing.

I know that there were two other threads on this same topic just a few days ago, both running at the same time. So it isn't like it was a month or so ago.

Still, many times the search can't find what you need, because the title is something strange or whatever. Like "rear gets loose" won't find "back end all over the place".

Glad you found this one and hope you can find the other ones for additional information.

Common things that can cause this problem:

1. Toe-in shims at front of trailing arms
2. Trailing arm bushings
3. Camber bracket bolts loose/missing
4. Camber rod bushings bad
5. Tire belts all scrambled (pull tire off car and check for out of round)

When you can repeat it in one direction like this, 1, 2, and 4 are most likely.

I have the same problem with mine. Type the word " alignment " in the search box and you will find all kinds of info.
