Default CF Calendar Approval Process Details

Thanks to everyone that has updated their pictures in our database; we have over 70 images that are pending final approval! And some that are already done (green). We are now ready for the next step.

If you have approved your image, it went to status "Yellow" or Pending. We have just updated the site to allow you to upload a better version of your picture. Many of you downsize pictures for use in your sig or in various posts, and that may be the picture that we currently have. What we need for the calendar is a source file of at least 800 x 600, which most digital cameras are able to take on their "best" settings.

Here's the process.

1. Visit the calendar project search page here.
2. Search for your car; it should be at "Yellow" status if you have granted permission for us to use it. It will be "Red" if you have not filled out the form, or if it got lost during the "worm attack" that went around the internet earlier.
3. If you are at status "Red", please fill out the permission form. Even if you don't want us to use the picture, please fill out the form and "Deny" permission so we can remove the picture from our database.
4. If you are at "Yellow" status, click the thumbnail image and use the provided form to upload your source file. Full instructions are on that page.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Visit the main page for details.

If you have a picture that you want included in the database, don't despair! We're almost ready to start taking new submissions. :D We are using the "pending" uploads to test the file upload process. If it all works well we will open the database for brand new submissions. Thanks for your patience while we put all this together.

Thanks for supporting this project.

Is replying to my own post like talking to my self?

I wanted to get some feedback, so I hope people checking out this thread will let me know what they think. There are some pictures in the image database that have not been either approved or denied but I know the owner. Not personally, I mean I know the forum handle of the person that owns the picture. In one case, the owner requested that they be added to the database and then has not taken any steps to approve the pic so that we can use it.

Since the pics have not been "denied" they have not been removed from the database. But since we have not been given permission, we won't be able to use the pics in the calendar.

At some point, I will probably drop these images from the database. So here's the question:

If I know who the pics belong to, should I send that person a direct email asking them to approve / deny their pics? Or just leave well enough alone? How would you feel in that situation? If you have visited the site, found your car, but not posted a response, would you mind dropping me an email as to why? Not a big thing, I am just curious.

I guess that was more than one question. :D

I'm trying to keep the project "visibility" up by posting to these threads every now and then, but I don't want to be a pest. Thanks.

Dave
