radiator cap
i have a 77 my buddy has just got a 76,
he has no radiator cap,
he has a plastic expansion tank but no pressurised cap,
do you think it's had an aftermarket rad????

Cant really help ya out but how does it hold any cooling system pressure, wouldnt it boil over? I am sure some one else has the answer for ya ,,,Peace,,, Moosie

it will never pressurise, it won't boil over either,
i've driven cars (*** cars) for years with the cap on loose due to head leakage problems,,,,,
what is the correct setup for a 76???

The 1976 does have a standard radiator cap. If you don't have a cap, it must be an aftermarket radiator.

so when the thermostat opens the coolant just flows all ovedr the ground?

that won't happen,
the coolant will just circulate and not build up any pressure,
just means it will never reach correct operating temperature,

The boiling point WILL be lower so the potential to boil over is greater.

It is absolutely and after market radiator. Going on the third radiator in my '76 all thus far bought from GM and all have had a cap.
