Default 1969 Intake Question

--Sorry about the previous one. There was some strange error when I tried to post it. We will try this again...--

I started running the numbers of the various components of my engine and it looks like it was really "bubba-ed." I knew that the original 350/350 was long gone and replaced with a 305, which sucks, but I assumed the intake/carb was original, not knowing what I was looking at when I bought the car. The carb is actually an early 80's electric choke q-jet (17084229), but I digress...

The intake is stamped 3905394 K266. Based on the research I have done, it looks like that is a 1967 327 Camaro intake.

Here is my problem...I have started to develop some serious vapor lock issues on hot days (which we have quite a few of in Florida). My previous carb to intake gasket was leaking, so I replaced it with a standard Mr. Gasket one. Well, the old one was really thick (about 1/4 inch), which I now believe is because it was a heat insulator as well. I am now looking at puting a heat shield and some sort of insulator gasket on there, but I am afraid of hood clearance. Looks to me like my intake is taller (which is probably why there is a small hole in my hood and only a 2 inch air filter.)

So, the larger issue...does anyone know if this intake is in fact taller?

If I wanted to replace it, should I go with the original (#3927184, right?)?

Is there an aftermarket one that would bolt on and be short enough for me to put a taller/original air filter on there and give some clearance for a heat shield/carb spacer etc?
