recently seem to have vibration i hadn't noticed before, when i put my foot loosely on the clutch before shifting. not visable, but definite vibration.
is this indicating something more severe... tranny, clutch, engine?
or am i just paranoid?
'73, stock 350, believe i have the 4:11 diff - cause i'm turnin' 3000rpm @60mph
Most likely, it's the throw-out bearing wobbling on an uneaven pressure plate. It would be unusual in a new clutch, but if it's old, don't worry about it till either gets worse, starts to make noise (a sure sign the bearing is going) or you experience clutch slippage. A worn disc will cause it as well.
Basically, if it bugs you or it's real pronounced, put a clutch in it. Otherwise, let it develop, which could take years depending on how you drive.
Throwout bearing
Pilot bushing
Input shaft bearing
Bent disc hub(which sort of takes out all three of the above if you don't fix it)
Or you might just be expieriencing an ignition miss or a lazy cylinder. The clutch linkage just gives the slight vibration an easy path.
All of the clutch-related conditions will usually have an accompanying noise, while the engine-related will likely not.
