Default spark plug wires

undefinedI would like to find the correct routing of the spark plug wires for a '77 Vette. The previous owner changed engines (I have the original too) and never mounted the wire guides, so I am now in the process of replacing plug wires for the second time in a year. The parts books are pretty sketchy on what is required and I don't want to buy unnecessary parts. Thanks

The stock engine had thin metal guards that attached to each side of the block. When attached to the block, it was hollow, and the plug wires ran through the guard. I am not sure if the stock guards will bolt onto an aftermarket engine.

The engine isnt really aftermarket, it's from a '71 Camaro. so I would think the stock guides would work. I was just unsure whether the ones that appear to route the wires around the back of the block rather than over the valve covers were the correct ones. What the Eckler's catalog shows appear to have slots for 2 wires, so I would need 4 of them if they are the correct ones. This is my first vette so I am flying blind. Thanks for the reply.

The correct ones rout the plug wires along the block under the exh manifolds down from the plugs and back of the manifolds then uo along the sides of the dist. I think there are about 6 pieces all together plus the fastners.

Curious, why do they route the wires next to the block? I've found that my previous set of wires got all nasty looking from being routed the stock way.

To keep them from getting roasted on the rams horn manifold or headers if you've gone aftermarket mod. The exhause manifold/headers get a LOT hotter than the block.
