Edelbrock Victor Jr. Heads on a 383?
I am considering steping up to victor jr. heads on my 383. I currently have ported edel. performer rpms but feel that a larger cross section would help the top end. I am concerned about losing the low end for street driving. BTW i have a 4 speed muncie w/ 4:11 r.p. & a good sized cam with victor jr. intake. Any thoughts or experience to share?

I have then and love them, check out the dyno vid in my sig. I wouldn't worry about low end torque, with the the Vic Jr. intake my 406ci made around 450TQ @ 2000RPM

I have them on a 383....jury is still out on them for me, I think the low and mid lift numbers are a little low. I have dropped down a cam size, am now going to try the same cam Motothead is using in his 406. (Comp. Cams XR280). Will dyno it soon.

I feel the 215 cc intake may just be a little too big for a 383...but if the low lift numbers would be better, I think they would be great. The lift numbers above .500 are very good.I talked to Edelbrock for about 20 minutes about these heads, they feel they are more suited towards a 12.5 to 13.5 compression motor. My last cam was a little too big, it was bleeding off too much compression. My c.r. is at 11:1 .

Maybe the Edelbrock guys should look at this dyno graph
Doesn't get much better for the street for a normally asperated small block chevy, maybe I am just lucky with the engine combos I come up with, after all Eldebrock clearly labels them race heads
