12Volt source for electric choke.
I just removed my Q-jet to send it off for a rebuild and setup. I have a Holley 650 that I'm going to put on the car fro the time being. I need to find an ignition powered 12v source for the carb. Any one have any clues were to look for a good wire to tap?

Steve, did you see my post about the corvettemagazine.com article?
or.... did you see the article about replacing qjet with holley? They just had an old wire hanging around that they hooked up! so, that doesnt really help you! but more to the point.... I dont think you are supposed to torque your carb to 65 lbft as per the article.. MJ

Check your fuse box. There should be a post in the fuse box that says ING on it. At least it has it in my 71's box. I used this post for my MSD 6AL box and works just fine.

Steve
I've HEARD that you can tap off of the windshield wiper motor power lead. Hopefully someone who has done it will ring in.

Mine is hooked into the wiper terminal block. The middle one, I think, is only hot when the key is on. Use a meter and check.

On my '80 that came with electric choke it's one of the wires coming out of the harness from the alternator.
Hope that helps

I suggest that you tap into your oil pressure somewhere with a pressure activated switch so that the choke only gets power when the engine is running. You don't want your choke going off before you start the engine just because you left the key on for a while.
