if you have alot of time i just saw an 80 dash that was really bad. multiple 1mm cracks and flaking. the guy took the entire thing out and filled allthe defects with an epoxy resin then spent alot of time sanding the whole thing then priming and painting with a rubber based paint and it looks fantastic. he said he had a true 10 hours into the dash not counting r&r. when the time comes i probably would make the decision once its out and in my hand. 500 bucks is alot of other stuff, even if its gas.
I'm going to build my own dash out of fiberglass. My brother has worked with fiberglass for a long time and is gonna help me. I want a one of a kind "cockpit" style wraparound dash. It will take more time than money, but I always knew it was gonna take a while to complete my 80. I am not going to put it on the road until it is done exactly as I want it. I agree that Wilcox is a good source for a new dash.
ecklers is the cheapest compaired to mid american. they run 350.00 already painted etc... I went with a dash mat i found on line for 100.00 with the c3 logo. the rest of the dash I primered and sprayed on the car.
