Default Trans linkage adjustment help

Last night, my 69 4sp quit going into gear. Complained about it here. The conclusion was that the linkage needed to be adjusted. I am kinda transmission stupid, so I have some basic questions and would really appreciate some help.

I was able to determine that it was partially in gear. I crawled under the car and moved the 3rd/4th lever into neutral and I was able to get in the car and move the shifter into 1st and 2nd. Cant move it over to 3/4 yet.

The linkage is obstructed by all kinds of stuff under there (driveshaft, crossmember, parking brake pulley, trans mount, exhaust) and I really dont see how anyone is able to get to the linkage to work on it without tearing all that stuff out.

So, here are the questions...

1) Is the "linkage adjustment" the threaded end of the trans arms where they connect to the shifter linkage? To adjust, I need to turn the pin on the end, right?

2) Is the hole to lock the linkage in place the little hole I see on the curved pieces just above where the trans arms connect to the shifter linkage?

3) Since I dont see how I am going to get a hand in there, can I disconnect the trans arms from the 3/4 and 1/2 levers on the trans itself then twist them till they line up in neutral or do I have to disconnect the other end from the linkage?

4) Shoult I go back and yell at the guy who put my clutch in? Seems like this is something that would have been done when they pulled the trans.

I have to get this fixed today since this is my only car and I really appreciate the help!

Got it.

The 3/4 arm needed 2 turns and all is well.

If my hand was about 1/8 an inch fatter, I would never have been able to get my hand between the floor and the exhaust to get in there and remove the cotter pin and turn the linkage.

A few more busted knuckles, hours on the back, and grimy hands, but fortunately this one didnt cost me anything...

Thanks for the help, guys.

So, the more I think about this, I am kinda concerned. Why would it have gone so far out of alignment all of a sudden? Should I be worried that there is an underlying problem and the misaligned linkage was just a symptom?
