Default T-Top Does Not Fit Right

I have an 82 with two sets of tops. The glass set does not fit the car right but the tops are the correct ones for 78-82 models. The tops have the one handle release. Is there a way to adjust the tops to fit?

They are higher in the rear then the solid ones and someone told me that that is the way all of the glass roofs fit and to try and adjust them to be flush with the roof would probably make them crack. As long as they fit close to where they actually seal to the body of the car I'd consider that success. Peace,,, Moosie

Glass tops are approximately 1/8" higher in the rear than painted solid tops.

Should be fairly flush in the front. Is the weatherstripping new on the glass tops?
If it is it might take two people to push down on the tops until you can latch them. After a few days, the weatherstripping should settle in.

The tops I believe are off a differant car. The weatherstrip is in great shape. Maybe the weatherstrip needs to settle in to position when the tops are put on this car??????

Do they sit high in the front where they dont contact the body??? On mine they sit a bit higher in the front then the solid ones I have but the difference in how high the glass ones fit as opposed to the solid ones is really pretty minimal. An old set of glass ones I had looked warped, where they sat on the car in the front the leading edge actually looked to make a dip right where they curve towards the side, passengers side much worse then the drivers. These tops, the glass ones , were straight from G.M. brand new. Peace,,, Moosie

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I've adjusted the rear so they sit about 1/8 inch above the roof. It took at least five shims however. The fronts stick up enough I can touch the weatherstrips with my fingers!!!

It's not the weatherstrips. The pin is buried in the locating hole. The door glass does not meet the T-top either. I fought these things all day on Sunday.

Now a little background. The tops that came off the car were what I believe someone called "Catalina tops". Each one has two pieces of glass sandwiched together in the center and the outside are painted the same color as the car. Each has two latch handles. These tops fit fine.

The glass tops I'm trying to install came off of an '82 the owner was converting to a convertible.

One more thing, the tops on my other 80 do not fit this car either.

Is it possible the A pillar is off line?????? How in the world do you adjust it????

found the shims! a buck each and they are OEM! However I have more issues. The latch handles are loose and the stud screww that is suppose to make contact with windshield area does not make contact like it is suppose to and I have loosened the stud as far as it goes. I can also see an air gap between the weatherstrip and the staineless bracket at the front center position. I thing the locking and latching mechanism needs to be replaced Anyone have any other Ideas?????????
