How do I test a Wiper Motor

I have a 77 wiper motor that I want to test before I install it and need to know how to test it. Which terminal do I need to connect to a hot in order to make the motor operate and do I need to connect anything to the other two terminals. I have a light blue wire, a yellow wire and a black wire on a 3 prong connector and a black wire, ground wire on a separate connector.

Can you just unplug the currrent one and plug in the test one. Make sure you have a good ground on the motor, without this they can act wierd.

Bench Test

Thanks for the reply, but my Vette is in for paint work, so I must bench test it the wiper motor. Suggestions appreciated.

I won't be home till later but I can check out the plug on mine and let you know which terminals are which if that helps.

On my 76, I taped the yellow wire to power my electric carb choke..I think it was the middle wire...the other 2, one goes to switch, one goes to washer...to take motor to ground...
