I have come into possession of a 1976 corvette, which is in need of huge amounts of TLC. I have been searching through all of the online catalogs for spare parts and have noticed that the 4 spoke steering wheel (signed by Zora Arkus-Duntov on the top right spoke) which is on my car is not listed anywhere. I have to have the car in original form so that i can leave it left hand drive. Can anyone out there tell me if this steering wheel was an option? Thanks
duntov designed a lott of corvette race cars and also designd cams that are still in cars today i had one in my old elcamino, and it rocked, probly worth a lott more than a stock wheel,
where did the car come from??

Reason: spelling
the '76 originally had the same wheel as the vega.
Yes, it's the same steering wheel as the Chevy Vega, not sure if it's from the 76 Vega, or if GM had a ton of old Vega wheels left over and decided to use them up on the 76 Vette...
Here's what it looks like...

I've always thought that was a bit harsh. The Chevelle and Camaro also used that wheel in those days. While I agree it is out of place in a Vette, it's not THAT bad.

Well, when I bought my car, there was a after-market wheel on it, with the original in a box....you can see what I did...
If I'm not mistaken the Vega Steering Wheel came with Vettes with the standard NON TILT/TELESCOPING steering Column. I have one in my 78 and it's original. I would like to change it but they stopped selling the adapter kit for an aftermarket steering wheel.
Thanks for the assistance, the steering wheel is engraved with the signature of Zora, and has some polished alloy spokes, so it must be an aftermarket replacement. I might be able to con the bean counters here into believing that it wan an option. thanks again for your help.
