Default Disk Brake Shield Delete

Is there any adverse effects from removing the brake shields? What is their purpose?
Thanks,
Batsy

They are there for when you are driving down a dirt road at 65mph to keep the rocks and dirt off the rotors.

Not needed otherwise, and if you track the car they are not recommended.

the fronts also have the french lock for the upepr caliper bracket bolt, the rears are the anchor plates for the parking brake spring anchors. The front can be removed with no ill effect, the rear must be cut to retain the center section for the parking brake.

The fronts were removed completely and the rears were notched for caliper clearance. But there is at least 1" between my rear rotors and the shield.

Unless you do away with the parking brake as well. No parking brake on mine, if I need one, I hit the line lock!
