I’m a veteran C-3 owner who’s been dormant on the forum lately, but this is a GREAT place to learn about your shark and help others through your experiences. I drive my ’81 all year in Westchester County NY, and am currently (temporarily) running 225 studded snows on my ride (with a 70lb.tube/bag of sand in back when snow/sleet are abundant). My 255 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As were just about gone when I switched over for the snow season, so I trashed ‘em. Question to forum members, when spring rolls around, do I have any reasonably priced options other than the age-old B.F. Goodrich Radial TA/Dunlop GT Qualifier/Goodyear Eagle GT II 255-15 choices? I’ve only had experience with the BFGs – probably 3-4 sets in 8+ years. Anyone had experience with the others? Also, are there any cheap 16” wheels out there that have the proper offset for C-3s? There are obviously a lot more 16” tire options than 15”. Regards to UK Paul and everyone else I’ve exchanged thoughts with over the years.
Aall year round? I drove my 68 all year, through the brutal Ohio winters the first two years I had the car...(69 & 70)....then I wised up and bought a beater...
I don't even want to know how your trailing arms and other suspension components look...I know, I've seen that on mine...the brake lines were just about rusted through...do yourself a favor, check the brake lines, especially the rear crossover line.
I've only driven the Vette for abor about 30 minutes after I got new Dunlops but the Dunlops seem to be a huge and very noticeable improvement over the BFGs that I had before. I had 255-60 and 275-60 BFGs and replaced these with 245-60 and 295-50 Dunlops (15" on stock aluminum rims).
The 16" and 17" tires are a lot better and there's so many to choose from... there is no 15" high performance tire that fits the C3 ...

I would love to see some pics with your new tire sizes

I have to get the flares installed, it looks a little funny right now with 295s and 2" spacers in the rear
I wish I had more time to play with the Vette.....
I just changed out my Goodyear GT II with Yokohama Avid ST.
The Goodyear's have a nice bold lettering and stlye but the Yokohama's out perform them when it comes to wet traction and cornering.
IMO the Yokohama's are a better tire. And yes they come in 15" size.
Got mine from Tirerack.com
Been checking Tire Rack and other, and the Yokos seem to be the way to go w/o going for wheels. But wouldn't it be great if there ere some cheap 16"/17" wheels we could just paint and drop thr latest rubber on?
Firestone makes a nice tire 255/60/15 Fire Hawk 500 or Indy 500 forget the model. I still can't get over you drive the vette all year round & have studded snow tires on it. you da man. I would love to see some snow cat pic's of that 4x4

Nothin' special. Car rides 1.5" higher because of bad VBP front springs and difficult to adjust rear monospring. So I just put on a set of 225x15 same-diameter studders at first snow and tied in the 70 lb. sand tube in the VERY back of the cockpit. Not a Hummer to be sure, but noticeable improvement in frozen anything.
Yes...note:reason I got them they were much better in the wet compared to Goodyears...we were going on an extensive road trip at the time......I have not regretted that decision...and they wear good...
Hi, I just put Daytona 255/60 15 on my '77 they look and feel great. but you can choose for your self at: tires-easy .com very good prices and the tires were here in literally one day.
