Quick brake question.......

If the brake pedal stays firm when the car is off, but will go to the floor after being cranked, yet can be pumped back up stiff, before going to the floor again, is this the master cylinder? TY

Sound like the MC to me...

Does it act the same way when the car is running?
I mean do you need to pump it up? or does it stay firm?

It will go to the floor with the engine running, but you can pump it up.

With the engine off, it stays firm.

i don't think you can draw any conclusions from that other then the brake booster is overcoming the resistance....could be the MC or could be air in the lines

Bleed your brakes....you've got air in the lines....if it continues after a good brake bleed, THEN look at the M/C...
