My good friend just bought a 75 L48 convertible and is dire need of a horn for the state inspection. He has checked everthing out and it is a bad horn. I know he did some good troubleshooting because he used to work as a Chevy technician in the 80's. He even connected the horn directly to 12 volts and it didn't even vibrate. If there is anyone out there with a horn for less that what you can get them in the catalogs please e-mail me. I am going to go see the car in a couple of weeks (and also visit him and his family  ) and am going to get him set up on the forum. I might even let him borrow my horn for the inspection. He is also finding out what it is to be a Vette owner...his brakes are shot. Parts are on order. I hope he gets it back on the road before I get there. I want a ride.

This is easy.
Call 800-VETTEJD, ask for Dennis, tell hium Karl with a 1974 Corvette sent ya.
Ya want to buy two horns (used & they test them before they send em out!).
Standard was only one. Two horns cost (original dealer order form) extra, so you may as well pay for the shipping at one time.
Get the one, mounted where the original is (driver side, by top of hood at the fender by the headlight). The other goes on the verticle post, passenger side, by the license plate area. Horn flute goes toward ground. I got my second horn from a 1976 or 1977 in the yard.
Back in 1974, those options cost only $4 (I ordered it for my Dad's 1974). GM was real cheap then. One horn, only!
J & D is Pacific Coast time. They can ship out tomorrow & get it to ya by next day if ya ask.
NAPA and some of the other vendors also have cheap replacements (if you're willing to not be totally original.) On my '75 the upper (large) horn is pitched in "D" and I bought a replacement for the lower (~$13) pitched in "A".
