Default Some more zz4 questions

I've seen postings on this before, but using forum search can't find anything.
Soo,
1. I have a 71 270 hp, 4 speed car...What size flywheel will I have to get for the zz4?
2. Also, I see that the stock engine has 2 sending units, one in each head. One is for temp, but what is the other for? and which one is which?

1. You'll need to determine your present flywheel size before you can buy.
You probably have a 12.75" diameter flywheel and you would need a GM#10105832 for a ZZ4. If you have an 14" dia. flywheel you'll need a GM#14088650.

2. There is a hole in each head for a sending unit because RH & LH heads are the same casting. Typically the wire harness connector is on the LH head, so you'll put a fitting (pipe plug) in the RH head to plug the hole.

Is there anyway to determine what size the flywheel is prior to disassembly?
Also, there are leads going to both sending units, so I thought they are both being used for something.
Thanks

the wire on the drivers' side should be green and that goes to the temp gauge sender. If there is one on the passenger side, then it's aftermarket possibly? Electric fan? Aftermarket temp gauge? What does not work when it is disconnected?

That's what is puzzling. The car is bone stock, power brakes, power steering and that's it.

FLYWHEEL:
Dive under & pull the bottom tin cover & count the flywheel starter ring gear teeth. Big flywheel 168T, small 153T.
LEADS:
For MY1971 two temp sensors are correct ... one in each head. Don't hold me to it but I think one of them is related to the TCS or TSC (sp?) solenoid that "automatically" adjusts idle at carb / vacuum to dist? ... bolts onto carb base & has some vacuum hoses ... early attempt to lower emissions?

Some had said that the bolt pattern of the starter has something to do with flywheel size?
I have no TCS/TSC solinoid on the car, Maybe it's missing?

If your starter bolts are staggered, it should have a 14" 168 tooth flywheel. If they're straight in line it should be a 12 3/4" 153 tooth flywheel.
