Now that the original carpet is out; at the drivers feet, I can see where the floorboard has been cleaned by a water leak (have a waterproof cover for it now, but the leak at the floor-board area still shows).
Also, I removed the drivers side kick panel; and the body bushing bolt insidethe vent hole is rusted inside there (recent rust, not old stuff) and the passenger side is the old rust from normal age.

There is no rust in the birdcage or window pillars area (have the trim off).
Ok; I think its the cowl area...somebody mentioned somewhere about a trick to sealing it without stopping up the drain hole in the cowl area.

I need to know this "trick".

Any pics available? I didnt see any drain line tube or hole in either corner of the cowl area.

Or is this a "remove the fender to seal" trick?

Discuss...all opinions welcomed...pics of the cowl drain hole location would be awsome...or at least a good description for me to look for it.

Bubba may have tried to stop the leak and sealed the hole up is why I cant find the hole, and why I am asking for a pic.

Thanks,
Jim

The book by Michael Davis covers this as well. One of the common leak areas is the bolt holes GM used to carry the body on the assembly line before it was dropped on the frame. After the two were assembled and the cradle removed, they just slapped some black caulking over the holes and called it good. NOT! after a few years it hardens and falls out! They are on the birdcage under the fender (figures), but I think you can probably get to them from the inside if you had the dash apart.

It it helps......you are NOT the only C3 owner with this issue. All C3's leak like crazy from the cowl/windshield pillar area! Do searches and read through all the C3's forums and you will find a ton of other posts on this same topic. Many of us live with this issue forever and just go about carpet replacments every few years.

I used black silicone around the cowl area and worked the silicone into the gaps and this helped to some degree but not a 100% fix.

Default Resin...

I also had leaks from the cowl area. I tried using undercoating and a bunch of other stuff. I ended up having to remove it all, cleaned the little wiper trench area out, and then got me some resin with a little hardener in it, laid some fabric down in the low spots, and just poured the resin in.....it flowed to all the low spots, evened the trench floor all up, and flowed down the sides.
Must have done this 15 years ago...haven't thought about a leak since.
