Speedo question

Can I use an older higher MPH speedo in my 1981? What changes have to be made? I hate the fact that mine has an 85mph speedo and want to replace it.

To the best of my knowledge, it is a straight swap, no modifications required. I would double check the location of the turn signal and parking brake indicator lamps etc.. just to be on the safe side. My .02 Good luck!

your 81 has a speed sensor in it that tells the tranny if it auto when to lock up the torque converter,,there is a shop that converts your speedo for $80 go to corvetteinstruments.com's

been browsing the threads and came to this one, how do i remove the speed sensor and where is it located? first of all, can it be done?

there is a plug in back of the speedometer .it has a small LED on it..I can't see any reason to un plug it.. you can also unplug it at the top of the computer..look at the manual
