Default Coil Spring Height?

I have my coil springs out of my 72 LT1 as a part of my front end rebuild. Does anyone know what the static height should be? Mine are about 12.75" high. I'm trying to determine if I should paint them and put 'em back in or if they should be replaced.

Thanks,
Dick

If they are original replace them. The coil springs lose some of there "spring" over time. They are pretty cheap to replace

If you are going through the effort to rebuild the front end put some nice new springs in. You can always keep the originals in the garage in case you ever sell the car and the buyer is psycho about originality.

I just replaced my front coils last week and the difference between what was in there and what I installed was significant. Not sure were the couls I pulled came from, but the measured 16" staticly and the new VBP springs are 12" 550#. See photo. I have not driven it yet due to coolant work so I will let you know.

Thanks, guys. I think that's good advice. I'll shop for new springs. I was just curious as to whether they're bad or not.
