Congrats on the purchase. Glad to have you aboard.

Can you still unlock the left door? If so try turning the locking mechanism AND GENTLY trying to unlock it with the key from the outside. You may even have to wiggle it a little bit. Sometimes the locking mechanism binds up, especially if it is not used very much.

You may try to pop one of the T-Tops open. Here's what I would try. Get an old butter knife and bend the first 1.5 to 2 inches just so it has a slight curve. Stick the butter knife through the top of the window and weather strip. You may put some petroleum jelly on the knife so you don't damage the weatherstrip. If you can pop the latches down then your in. I think if you have a little patience and adjust the bend in the butter knife a little at a time you will get in. Let us know how you do.
Good Luck
Steve

Did you squirt WD-40 into the locks? They may just have a little rusty parts after sitting a while...new purchase, right?

Before you do that Big D can you open the door from the inside? If you can take off the inside door panel. Its easy to do. Once off you can look inside & see whats going w/the lock. I replaced both of mine had the same problem w/the drivers door. G/L Jim

You can't take the door panel off of a 75 with the door closed without severely damaging the door panel.

Welcome to the Forum.

You might try taking off the LEFT door panel and familiarizing yourself with how the lock mechanism works. i.e. what levers you have to pull to unlock the mechanism.

Your car may have a plastic guard over the lock to deter break-in.

You might have to break the plastic guard so that you can get to the lock mechanism. Once you have access to the lock mechanism you can pick the lock with a probe (coat hanger, slim-jim, etc).

On my 1980 the door handle itself was worn and the door lock was pretty crusty with dirt and grease.

Seriously, squirt some WD-40 in the lock holes, wait 5 minutes and try the key again...your problem happened with my passenger door right after I got my vette...works great now...lubed...

Before you destroy the door, call Pop A Lock. $50 and its over, take a ride. Once they got it open serious surgery may be needed on the lock mechanism to get it working right, not a big deal. But at this point a Pro might be the answer and save you a LOT of agrivation and $$

Wait! Don't cut anything with a chisel just yet. Look for posts from ED T, he has some great photos that shows how to manipulate the lock mechanism without cutting stuff.
