Default Carlisle Etiquette

This will be my first time going to Carlisle. Does anyone have any tips? Will the Forum have places for the members to park their cars together or is it just a booth where we can all meet up? If there isn't a place to park does anyone have any suggestions on where to do it? I'm planning on leaving my house at about 4 am so I can get there early.

Thanks

Steve,

We have a meeting area in the Zip tent. if you get there early you can park on the grounds with a Vette, besides that it is every man for himself. The only other important thing is that your first time. you must bring 2 strippers with you

Steve,

No need to leave that early. I left last year about 4:30 and was there before they opened the gates. Once they did open the gates about half of the vendors still had their stuff covered in plastic. I plan on leaving about 5:30-6:00 this year. I plan on riding with my brother in-law in his truck. So if you plan on buying anything big, let me know.

Steve, Have you pre-registered for what they call the "fun display" ? I think about 2/3 of the parking is devoted to the so-called fun display, so if you have not registered for it, you will automatically be directed to park on the far side of the fairgrounds. Even if you are registered for the fun display you can end up pretty far up the hill like I was last year.

When you enter the fairgrounds they ask you if you have a club affiliation. Some of the corvette clubs have reserved parking areas and they will send you over to your club if that is the case. I think Troy tried to get an area for corvette forum but they said no. The organizers of the event are very tight on space. If you want to park with friends you will have to meet outside the fairgrounds and enter together.

Once you are parked, if you have a well-located spot just break out the chair and hang. Otherwise, start walking! See you there! MJ

I'll be driving a truck, need it to haul stuff back, maybe. Where do you park a non-corvette. My 19 year old son and I will be there Friday morning around 9:00AM.

I drove my truck last year. You can't park on the grounds that's for vendors, campers, and vettes. There are places outside the gates where you can park for between $5 and $10 per day.
Get there early by 8:30 most of these were full and the prices were going up on the spots that were left.

Last year you had to pay for the fun show to park anywhere inside gate 3.($35 I think it was). Even then by the time you got past all the C5 parking you could find yourself way up on the hill and a long walk from what used to be the fun show field just a few years ago. There is a nice lot about 2 driveways north of Gate 3 where you can park for $5-7 and is a shorter walk than some of the on grounds parking. See you there. Craig

Thats one thing I don't like....I've owned my vette for a year now...I trully love vettes but when it comes to shows, why the hell do all vettes stick in the same spot?? I remember before when I wasn't an owner, I would look at the first one and just skip the whole group cause they looked all alike....today I know better but I'm sure all those people that come to look at cars do the same as I did before.....so when I go in shows, I park away form the vette group...and seriously I attract more people than the one in the middle of the group.

I'm planning on driving the Vette up and having my wife follow me in the 4runner. I'm taking my 68 AG wheels with me in hopes of selling them. Do I need to do anything special to do that? I'm not exactly a vendor if I'm only selling one thing.
