77 Bumper Help
My son's best friend has a 77 vette and had a little incident the other night.
I guess he lrearned the hard way about Corvettes and slick rear tires. Anyway, he spun the car around in the ran and just kissed the guard rail with the rear of the car. He broke a tail light and cracked the rear bumper
around the tail lights. Can this material be repaired or is replacement the
only answer. He has asked my advise as I have done fiberglass work in the past but never worked with the bumper material.

Re: 77 Bumper Help (Go-Gone)
Depends on HOW bad it is torn up. if pieces are missing replace, if they are there, and you can fit it back together, repair, front and back sides, Larry

Mine started cracking from age so instead of using the lame rubber replacement I got a fiberglass tail from Eckler's. Went on like a charm and looks much better, IMHO. No wrinkles and will hold it's shape.

I saw a product in Mid-America or Zip, sorry, I'm not sure which one, but it is a repair kit for these types of bumpers. You might try there. :blueangel:

There is a 3M product made just for the repair of the soft bumpers. Friend of mine used some on the front of a Camaro. Worked very well. You can probally check with some of your major paint suppliers and they can tell you what the 3M product is.
