Default Oil Filter.....which one to use???

I have almost always stayed with AC oil filters...but since the PF25 is gone and not to sure about the PF454 replacement being shorter....what do others use?

The PF1218?
WIX 21069(?) or is there another number??

Thanks,
LannyL81

I've been using the Napa Gold, FIL1069, which I believe is a Wix filter. Stay away from Fram. Far away.

NAPA Gold or WIX (51069).

Why do you say to stay away from fram? I been using fram on all my cars I thought they were a good filter?

Read Batman's link to the oil filter comparison, above. My favorite part is the letter from the Allied Signal engineer who stopped using Fram filters when he started working there. I have had two Fram filters fail, leaking fresh oil all over my garage floor.

I like the Purolator Pure1 filters myself, but no one in this stinking town carries them. I have to buy the stupid things when I go back to St. Louis.

The second-tier Fram filters are ok. Not great, but ok.

the Mobil 1 oil filter is top notch but really expensive....i use the purolator top of the line filter and believe it or not i am impressed with the carquest oil filters i cut one of those open and it was made really well inside.

...I think the PF-454 is sufficient for me cause I change my oil like every 1300mi on my cars, which to me is more than OK.

I have been using the Baldwin "B6" quart filters on all my Chevys. I can buy them at the local Caterpillar dealer for under $5.00 and they have superior construction for the rugged and demanding off road market. See who sells them in your area; you will not be dissapointed.

I have never had a problem with a Fram, other than i can't find the PH13 i used in my 79 vette anymore, so i use a PH5. anyone else have this problem???
one of the simplest things to do for a motor is getting to be a PITA and not cheap anymore IMHO. the oil doesn't have enough zinc in it, and is more expensive. I used to pay $1.08 for Mobil at Wally World, now $1.92, filters are the same price basically if you can find the right one. O'Reillys wanted a little over $11 for a Wix filter for my John Deere Lt150 rider,( i said no way) grass mowing is right around the corner so i'm trying to get things ready.

I've seen repro versions of the PF25 for sale. They have the AC logos and are white. They do not have the embossed lettering on the botton of the filter.

is that right....it was obvious in the filter that it was made by a top company. so many things are contracted out that its hard to tell any more what you are getting....in the strauss auto store is the purolator line and right next to them in a no name brand is the Strauss house brand and it follows the same numbering designation....do you want to bet who makes those house brand filters?
