Several years ago I purchased a 78 automatic. Started restoring it and got bored - afterall - it's an automatic. My 76 & 69 are 4 speeds and the 78 was like the Black sheep!
I had been away from the forum for a while and after reading all the threads under Tech/Performance on the auto to manual conversion, I said, "DUH"! I can do that. I gathered all the parts - the hint about using the Z-Bar bracket from an 80/81 was the best - and Wednesday, startedthe conversion by removing the not so automatic! As of now, the only thing left is the shifter and I am waiting it's arrival.
Without the bounty of info on this forum, the 78 would still be sitting in the driveway - NEGLECTED!
