Ok The backyard machanic is at it again. I have a stock 1969 350, 300hp. auto, I need to give it a good tune up. I have changed plugs and oil at the start of each of the last 2 summers. This will be my 3rd with the car and I think it needs a good tune up.
Here is my check list.
1, new plugs
2. new Plug wires - need suggestions of brand please
3. new rotor & dist. cover - brand?
4. Point & Condenser - NAPA
5. Timing - Read Lars paper
6. ReCurve kit - NAPA? (Read Lars papers)
7. Oil change
8. Check All fluids (Rad, Trans)
I have been doing searchs on some of this stuff for suggestions on bands Please let me know if I am missing anything and please, please make suggestion.
My advice is to stick with the 7mm Delco stock plug wires. If you can't get them across the counter, the Corvette aftermarket providers carry them. Stay away from "universal fit" plug wire kits. If you're still running the original plug wire looms, anything bigger than 7mm won't fit.

Thanks you very much for any and all help.
Fuel filter
breather element (if applicable)
PCV
air filter
carb&choke cleaned and adjusted
auto-tranny filter and oil change(if applicable..not just *checking* fluids)
replace coolant--( add *40below additive* if applicable)
rear diff oil change with posi-trac additive
I use AC Delco platinum plus plugs (high $$)
You can use Jeggs or Summit (or local) that sells Accel or Mallory ignition products (dist. cap, rotor, points, condensor).
Adjust correctly or change belts that provide power and correct cooling (water pump/alternator)
Thanks
Fual filter was changed last summer which caused a Carb rebuild because I striped the threads. So I'm a little gun shy to change the filter again, but I will try everything else you guys have suggested.
For the trans fluid and filter, are there any secrets. I have read about changing fluid and filter, sounds to easy.

For parts use NAPA part number CS786 for the points and RR175 for the condenser. I check my dwell once a year, and it hasn't changed in 3 years.
Sixfooter - Thanks those are the numbers I have, I think from the same post.
Another dumb question, I just checked NAPA site and they have a CS786 and cs786 HD, I assume I use the CS786 because I have a pretty stock 350 300 HP eng., Is this correct?
While you are at it, you should probably go through the brakes as well. Check the pads, flush/replace the fluid as well. Who knows when the last time this was ever done.
