Default What's the going rate for...

Decent (not necessarily perfect) condition ORIGINAL door panels for a '70 with the tan cardboard backing stuff on them?

Center Console Brake Cover for a '70?

Water pump (suitable for rebuilding) for a 350/300 AC Auto '70?

Chrome seat hinges for a '70?

TH-400 Trans Pan with the TurboHydramatic embossed writing on it.

Original map pocket pocket piece with the chrome snap and the correct factory stitching on it?

Original Carpet plugs with the part number on them? (I pulled one of my originals apart getting it out.) :(

Rear Chrome bumper? How do you tell the repro's from originals. I've read there's a thickness difference, but are there any other tell tale signs?

Also, what things should I look out for with the above items? I'm just curious what a 'resonable' price for these items might be so that when I go to Carlisle I don't get fleeced out of my $$$. :yesnod:

Juliet,

Here are a couple of thoughts regarding your "shopping list" for Carlisle...

Door panels - Good luck on this one... Generally, people only take them off of a car when they are beyond repair. The last NOS set that I saw for a 1970 was a pair of dark saddle (standard) door panels for $800. I considered that a bargain and would have bought them as a backup set if they had been light saddle. If you are lucky enough to find a good used set, grab them; figure a price somewhere between reproduction and NOS depending upon condition.

Center console - Again, usually damaged to some degree. NOS consoles are still available from at least one vendor for a little over $100 last I checked. I'd price a used console according to this.

Water pump - Figure on $50 for a correctly dated and part numbered core.

Chrome seat hinges - Are you looking for something good enough to bolt on or are you planning to rechrome them? Might be able to find a set for rechroming for $25-$50.

THM 400 anything - Sorry, a bit out of my base of knowledge... I don't mess around with those "slush boxes."

Map pocket - Should be relatively painless on this one... $10 or so if you are able to find the pocket seperate from the passenger side dash panel.

Carpet plugs - Again, cheap when you find them, certainly no more than a $1 a piece (and hopefully less). How badly do you want originals though? At least one vendor has a reproduction with part numbers.

Rear bumper(s) - Never heard anything about a "thickness" issue before (I'm curious who said this). I am told that one vendor that is reproducing these is using the very same equipment that GM did when they were being stamped out in the late 1960s/early 1970s. NOS rear bumpers are still out there as well for around $400 each. If you do decide to get used bumpers for cores check them carefully as they are prone to rust. As far as price... Figure that the price of the core plus any repair and rechroming should run less than $400 each.

Understand that the prices I mention are all upper limits. If you can pick them up for less, so much the better. As with anything, if you absolutely MUST have a part, you might be willing to pay more, right?

Good luck with your search!

Regards,

Stan Falenski
