rack and pinion on c3

The C4 setup won't work. The rack is an end take off rack that is specifically designed for the C4 suspension. This would throw off the geometry in your steering.
Also the C4 is a front steer where our C3's are rear steer. That means the tie rods connect to the front side of the spindles instead of the rear.

The only way I have seen it done is wholesale slaughter of the entire front end, change everything....don't miss anything....
it's a mess....OR a very expensive act of God AND Congress.....

front steer end take off can be done, but not with the C4 or any other commercial power rack..they are all too wide.
The beauty of the center take off is that you can tailor the center bracket for the correct bumpsteer geometry, rack width is not important then...however rear steer and center take off have their disadvantages and with the location there's the steering shaft problems, some solutions are cleaner than others though.
