Re: first time corvette buyer needs advice (ddecart)
looks like i missed a good time on wednesday! i'll be in town friday evening through sunday morning. i'm not sure about my agenda but it would be great to meet some people from the board. right now i have a room in a hotel in ferndale, but i might cancel that if my friends in detroit invite me to stay at their house. i also have a friend in southfield. i'll be riding in a mercedes SLK 230, the guy from detroit has a 93 toyota supra, and the guy from southfield has a 99 honda civic si. yes, not a single american car, we'll keep a low profile!
fortunately the japanese cars aren't riced. all the modifications are subtle and they look pretty good in my opinion.
i'd prefer that the car be mostly like it was when the original owner bought it from chevrolet in the 70s. i've seen those modified "corvettes from outer space" - no thanks. i don't care to pay extra for matching numbers though.
original color could be a problem because i like black, and chevrolet did not paint the vettes black at the factory for a number of years in the 70s. i also like mille miglia red and bright yellow. i guess i don't care to pay extra for original paint either, but i will pay for great looking paint.
So to sum it up you want a nice looking (preferably black) 74-77 Corvette with A/C in good shape, right? Piece of cake! There's a lot of crap to sort thru but it won't be hard to find something like that.
