While I'm not familiar with C3s, I have a friend with a problem who would
like your opinions.
He has an '81 that he doesn't drive very often. He recently changed out his
wiring harness. When he went to start his car, the battery was completely
dead. He replaced it with the battery from his pickup. When he went to start
the car, he just got a clicking sound like a starter solonoid and the dash
lights and interior lights flashed in time with the clicks.
He removed the battery and put it back in his truck and his truck ('97 Chevy
Silverado) did the same thing, so the battery is apparently fried.
Any suggestions before he fries more batteries? Could a dead short in the
solonoid cause this problem or is the problem more likely in the wiring
harness itself?
I don't believe the battery is fried. If the Corvette hadn't run in awhile, it would have taken a lot of cold cranking amps to start it. The battery from the truck may not have had this ability. The smarter thing to do, would have been to use the truck to jump the battery in the Corvette. I would have left the two vehicles connected for awhile, and then I would have attempted to start the Vette.
