Default Hesitation when I mash it....

Help....my 1970 coupe automatic has about a one second hesitation when I tromp on it from either a stop or while going down the road. I check the accelarator pump on the carb and it appears to be wqorking fine. Timing is set correctly, maybe a bit advanced. It seems to be getting fuel (I can see it jetting properly). Could I have a weak ignition problem? ANy thoughts would be appreciated.

Carb is a Rochestor 4 Barrel - Stock 4MV as far as I can tell.

You should be more specific about carb manufacturer, size, type (double pump or vacuum) etc. Usually a bog means that you aren't getting enough fuel at that particular instant. I don't think it is your ignition if the car runs well the rest of the time, it either works or it doesn't. I would check the accelerator pump linkages to make sure there is zero clearance between the linkage and the pump lever. Then open the throttle all the way and make sure you can open the accel pump lever .015" more(using a feeler gauge). If everything is correct you might need larger squirters or a different accelerator pump cam profile. Eliminate any obvious problems before playing around (fuel bowl level, fuel pump, linkages, etc.
