parking brake? grinding?
I just got through replacing my strut rods with adjustable models. Also ended up cuting up and replacing my shock mounts. I had to bang on them pretty good to remove them. I went for my first pre-alignment test ride today and got some nasty grinding noise from the drivers side rear. After putting her back on jackstands I sounds kind of like it is some parking brake hardware or something that may have come loose while hammering on those stupid shock mounts
I haven't had a chance to look just yet, but does that make sense? Luckily I also ordred the TA brake lines when I got the strut rods etc. So I'll be removing the caliper and rotor this weekend to really be sure.

If it is original hardware, the banging may have broken one of your rusted out shoe springs, or any other component back there. Anything is possible. Hopefully, it is something simple.

Check the little retaining clip back there between the parking brake shoes. I had one come apart, wedge itself in there and rub the rotor something awful. Sounded like a screaching animal was stuck back there.
Check the caliper mounting bolts, if you mix the longer front caliper mounting bolts with the shorter rear ones they will hit the back side of the rotor. Ask me how I know.

Good news - except for the p-brake
You guys were right, it was the little spring from the p-brake. I removed it (p-brake didn't work anyway) and away I go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
