Buddy I cant wait till tommorrow morning to take it back out for another run with full throttle,i think since i used a throttle cable from a late model s10 blazer it must be why i didnt have full throttle when i did with the tpi cable.Nice covers jeff, the throttle body was a from a 91 truck.Buddy or jeff does your front end feel different now with the lighter motor?
Yes, it takes a few drives to get use to it. It's like putting a 4 cyl in a BB car. Before I put the LS1 in mine I had BB springs cut down in the weeds. Not even an inch over 245's. After the swap I was about 3" to 4" above that. I ended up swapping out the front springs for the QA1 semi's. That cured it for me, but I sure you could keep going down once you cut the pan. I also swapped out the rear spring to the 330 lb fiberglass. All this helped. If you watch video in my sig, you see after that it still gets alittle light up front as Jeff says. With a cam and slicks I think I could get real close to pulling a tire at the track.
Well i didnt get to run it today i wanted to adjust my toe some and found a bad tie rod end and the sleeve was frozen so its on stands till tommorrow night, then will see what she can do,i went all over for new tie rods and sleeves but nobody stocks them. I guess ill go do some yard work and play with the dog update tommorrow night,i got everything else fixed but still no power steering, ill work onthat later
79ls1 i ended up cutting the factory c5 bracket in half and using just the alternator,so i found a short belt that runs the crank pulley, belt tensioner ,waterpump and alt. then i made a power steering bracket setup to mount off the bottom of the block and used the a/c groove on the bottom pulley for the power steering.

Looks GREAT Pat! Though I wonder if it would breathe better if you modify the air filter placement? Seems like it's up against the hood reducing the amount of incoming air. Looks like a ram air rood or NCAA air duct could net better breathability?/
Corey its allready being planned thats whay i built it like that im incorporating my 4 inch cowl induction hood to seal against it bringing fresh air from the windshield.Thats next weeks project hood comes back off and start fabricating.
keep posting Pat, and congrats on your conversion. SAMMAN up here did the same 2 years ago in his '68 vert and still tells me that he prefers driving the '68 over his Z06. I got to drive them both and that conversion you both did is in my future as well. I am just starting to plan out a swap that would put the Z06 engine and tranny into my 72, add some a/c as well, fender flares etc.

That would take me a month to do and you say it's next week's project.
The way you did your ACC wouldn't work for me, I want to keep A/C. Matt sent me a drawing of his alt bracket, I may use a variation of that and figure out a way to use the balancer A/C pulley to drive the compressor. I will have to make a bracket that will align, will probably have to run the rad hose though the belt, dunno yet. But we can't have everything.
Congrats again, Pat, great job.

Sounds similar to what I did back in '97 here Pat.....to my TPI car....
built a box, sealed with rubber against the cut out hood, BB scoop...
Hey Pat, Here's a good pic of how high the car is sitting with the new motor and no spare tub. I am sure this has something to do with why it feels so light at speed.
jeff where did you get the ls1 decals from i want some for my hood.Mine doesnt have as much wheel well space since my tires are alittle taller then yours but still more then i like, but i can live with it for now.
I had a buddy make them for me locally. He moved and I lost contact. I have the drawing at home if you want to see if someone local to you can make them.

Pat,
I'll have my graphic guy make you a decal. I need some too. Let me know what you want it to look like?
Great job on the Conversion. I pulled the LS1 out of the 68 and getting close to painting the frame.
