I pulled the driveshaft tonight and I have a yoke with a machined flat plate welded to the yoke and trued in a lathe. I carefully measured the yoke angle. This is with the top of the tremec almost touching the tunnel, no way to get a finger inbetween .
I got 4 1/2 degrees DOWN so that is what the rearend is but up.

I can do this a number of ways, but I'm worried it will hit the tunnel when the body is put on. Any suggestions?????????

Does all this matter that much? I've just installed mine without going through all these measuements and it's working great, no vibrations. What's the chances I got all these measurements right?

Yes the tunnel clearence is tight, using the keisler supplied trans mount I've got about an index finger's width between the tunnel and the rear inspection cover with the original 1972 non-rubber body mounts.

Shaftrs,
I'm leaning that way. Universal joints are cheap. My problem is that with the body off, I don't know how much I can jack up the tailhousing without it hitting the tunnel. I think I'll just try and get the differential close to level, then when the body is on, shim the trans mount until it's up against the tunnel.

It's easy to go up, I've got just enough space for the auto transmission tunnel blanket. And if you've opted for the heavy duty transmission yoke keisler offers, and it appears that you have, that thing is big and restricts tail shaft positioning horizontally.

Thanks Norval, you went way out of your way to get this info.

Sometimes I just wonder if the threads get too caught up in the analysis and loose sight of what's working.
